Coiled cherry

This is one of the final pieces that i wanted to show you this started life as a long piece of clay coiled in to a bowl shape. to execute a shape like this the two halves had to be done separately and joined together by another coil. This did actually start life as an apple but the shape was totally wrong, but with some consultation with my tutor we decided on a cherry which i stained with a velvet glaze and painted with a red oxide to give me a deep red colour, this was then highly glazed leaving the stalk as a contrast to the cherry.
And as usual here is my close up, you can see there is metallic marbling on the surface this has come from the clay and has risen through the surface.

Thanks for watching, there's more coming soon xx
